In my church, I run the livestream for each service with Sunday, Bible Study, or anything else. My station is about 30 yards from the audio booth. We had been continuing to understand and develop our process when it comes to the livestream as there have been connection or sound issues in the past. We tried new things, which included moving the main tower of the computer closer to the source, instead of having multiple connectors that were interfering with the sound. Even now as I sit and write this (this was not part of the original message), it already speaks for itself.
Instead of going straight to the source, many times we as believers try to create different connections that eventually connect us to God. They could be other people, other churches, idols, or other things of this world. We use them and justify their use because it eventually connects us to the Father. And yes, having people around us that bring us closer to God is important, but what truly matters is our direct relationship with God. Other people can’t give us salvation. They can pray for us but salvation is individual and the sole responsibility of the individual person. Those extra connections can cause distractions and disruptions to our walk, which is why we need to make sure we are directly plugged into the source and we extend connectors from there.
(Now back to our originally scheduled program). So we have moved the desktop closer to the source, which means the mouse and keyboard need to become wireless in order to work, instead of by cord. The keyboard that we have takes up more space than the past one. The mouse can’t fit on the side like it did. I’d like to think of us as the mouse and the keyboard as the Holy Spirit. We have to make room for the Holy Spirit and ourselves to work simultaneously. 2 Corinthians 13:14 says “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” The word “communion” means “koinonia,” or the share which one has in anything. Each day we are to be in communion with the Holy Spirit, creating space for Him to be welcomed and to work through us.
When you put the keyboard on the stand, it remains firm and doesn’t move. But when you put the mouse on the stand by itself and remove the keyboard, the mouse will stay for maybe a moment but then as you try to move it and do different things, it ends up falling off on it’s own. That. Is. Us. When we remove our connections with the Holy Spirit, choose not to be in communion, and listen to Him, sure we can stand for a moment but eventually we will fall off on our own.
The other issue we were having is that because the bluetooth keyboard and mouse are further away from the source, they do not work as well. Sometimes the keys won’t type or the mouse moves awkwardly, making it difficult to control. The further we are from God, the harder it is for us to connect with the Holy Spirit to operate. We want a move of the Holy Spirit but we aren’t making the effort to stay connected with God and then we become difficult to control. We wonder why things aren’t going the way we want them to.
In the small, really insignificant and meaningless inconveniences in our lives, God still manages to shed light on situations we face in our walk with Christ. It is important that we remain close to the source in order to function properly. Daily we are to make room for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to dwell with us so we may be guided in the right direction and function as God has intended. Doing it on our own will only cause us to fall on our face. Lastly, don’t allow unnecessary connections to disrupt your functionality. When you feel the interference, draw closer to God and stay connected.
